several hours before the show I was up here in my room and decided to take a number of unusual photographs.  another way of saying the same thing is "a handful" of "highly unorthodox" photographs.  either way, I took some photographs, see, and they immediately struck me as being not nearly as "run of the mill" as the ones I took in chicago, for example.  what a gigantic city that was and still probably is!  I sometimes shudder just thinking about it!  how in heaven's name to choose between so many possible options?  the photographer, if he or she even survives, often ends up just throwing his or her arms up in utter despair, and sometimes even chucking the camera itself down into the deep late-night murk of lake michigan!

but these days it's quite a bit simpler and I'm grateful for that.  

I was up here in my room, all alone, just snapping away at random interior vistas.  these were of course digital photographs so I was able to study them just moments after they were "created" or "captured."  I haven't loaded them onto my computer yet and I'm not exactly sure when or even if I will do so.  for the time being, I'm just carrying my trusty mid-level 2009 era canon power-shot compact discreetly around in my inside jacket pocket, roaming around the entire house when time permits, looking for unique visual opportunities, patterns, textures, contrasts, and blank spots.  yes, I photograph blank spots!  

talked to ricochet last night after the performance and he seemed fairly pleased.  as most of you know, he's a very non-judgmental, non-reactive, non-interfering type person.  in fact, most of the time he seems to be fairly pleased with performances.  I'm not really sure what he's looking for when it comes to creative activity.  but then again, I'm not sure what he's looking for when it comes to non-creative activity either!  those are the sort of distinctions he doesn't seem to relish making or drawing unless there is overt and unusual pressure being put upon him from some specific and/or influential quarter to do so.  and even then, he won't necessarily provide the answer or even the relevant category of answer which said quarter appears to be seeking.  I've heard him say on several occasions: "if people insist on playing games with me I have no problem playing games back on occasion."
